Connect Reddit and Telegram to Grok Bot with Composio (and add any custom MCP server) (unofficial guide)

Grok Bot's app catalog doesn't cover every service, so for apps like Reddit and Telegram many people add Composio, a third-party plugin that connects one account to a large catalog of apps. You add it from Connect apps, authenticate once, then ask your Bot to connect Reddit or Telegram in chat. You can also ask your Bot to add any public MCP server by URL. Here's how, as of Oct 28, 2026, plus what each connection can and can't do.

The short answer

Open Connect apps in the Grok Bot sidebar, search for Composio, add it, and choose Authenticate. Then, in a chat, type @ to attach Composio and ask your Bot to connect Reddit or Telegram. It sends you a sign-in the first time.

Reddit connects with your own Reddit login, so your Bot can search, read, post, and comment as you. Telegram connects through a Telegram bot you create, so your Bot can only send and read messages in chats where that Telegram bot is a member. It can't read your personal Telegram chats.

Composio is a separate company, not part of Grok Bot. This guide is independent and unofficial, and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by xAI, Grok, Cursor, or Composio. Features change, so check the linked pages for current details.

Why use a plugin instead of the browser?

The official docs say apps (plugins) are more reliable than clicking through a website when one exists. Use the browser for services without an app.

That matters for Reddit in particular: some sites block automated browsers, and in our own testing Reddit blocked browsing from a Bot's computer. A connector talks to Reddit's API instead of the website.

App logins stay off the Bot's computer. Per the docs, OAuth tokens are held on Cursor's connector backend and the Bot calls tools without receiving them.

How to add the Composio plugin

In Grok Bot, select Connect apps in the sidebar. On the phone app, tap your avatar on the top left and choose Connect apps.

Search for Composio and add it. You can also just ask your Bot: "Add the Composio app." It installs it and shows a Connect card.

Choose Authenticate (Authorize on the phone), review the access on Composio's consent screen in your browser, and allow it. Confirm Composio appears under Installed.

Added isn't the same as signed in. If your Bot says the app is missing, open it and choose Authenticate if it shows Needs auth or Disconnected.

Like every app, Composio is account-wide: once connected, every Bot you run can use it.

Connect Reddit

In a chat, type @, attach Composio, and say "Connect my Reddit account." Approve the Reddit sign-in when it appears.

Composio's Reddit toolkit lists 29 tools as of Oct 28, 2026, including searching posts and subreddits, reading a subreddit's posts and comments, reading subreddit rules, creating posts, commenting, editing or deleting your own posts and comments, and voting.

Good first jobs are read-only: "Find this week's top posts in r/[subreddit] asking about [topic], with links" or "Summarize the questions people asked under my last post."

Be careful with posting. Anything your Bot posts goes out under your Reddit name, and most subreddits have rules about self-promotion. Ask your Bot to draft replies for you to review, and to check the subreddit's rules before it suggests posting.

Connect Telegram

Composio's Telegram toolkit uses Telegram's Bot API, so it signs in with a Telegram bot token, not your personal account. You create a Telegram bot with Telegram's @BotFather, copy the token, and give it to Composio when your Bot asks you to connect Telegram.

Then add that Telegram bot to the groups or channels you want your Grok Bot to work in. It can only see and post in chats where the Telegram bot is a member.

Its 18 listed tools include sending messages, photos, documents, and polls, editing and deleting the bot's messages, forwarding, reading recent messages the Telegram bot received, and getting chat info, admins, and member counts.

Useful jobs: post a daily summary into your team or community group, send yourself an alert in a private chat with your Telegram bot, or count members and list admins of a group you run.

Treat the bot token like a password. Paste it only into Composio's own sign-in or a secure secret card, never into ordinary chat.

Add any other MCP server by URL

There's no settings form for custom servers. Instead you ask your Bot in chat, for example: "Add this MCP server: https://example.com/mcp." It confirms the details with you and sets it up, and new tools are ready from your next message.

The server has to be reachable from the internet over HTTPS. Your Bot runs on a cloud computer, so a server on localhost on your laptop won't work. The docs say a Bot can also add a server started by a command that runs on its own computer, and that server is then available to your other Bots too.

Composio also has a hosted endpoint, https://connect.composio.dev/mcp. Composio's own guide says to use the words "custom server" if you want that endpoint instead of the catalog plugin.

Adding a server on a private network, or one with a private certificate authority, asks for your approval first. On a Cursor team, an admin can block plugins, and a blocked one shows Disabled by team admin.

What you need

Steps

  1. Open Connect apps, search for Composio, add it, and choose Authenticate.
  2. In a chat, type @, attach Composio, and ask your Bot to connect Reddit or Telegram, then approve the sign-in.
  3. Run a read-only test first, like summarizing top posts in one subreddit or reading recent messages in one Telegram group.
  4. Tell your Bot to draft, not post, anything public, and to show you each message before it goes out.
  5. Once it works, save the job as a routine, for example a weekday-morning digest of new questions in your subreddit.

Prompt to copy

Using the Composio app, check r/[subreddit] for posts from the last 24 hours that ask about [topic]. List the top 5 with links, a one-line summary, and a suggested reply in my voice for each. Check the subreddit's rules first. Don't post, comment, vote, or send anything. I'll review and post myself.

Tips

FAQ

Does Grok Bot have a Reddit or Telegram integration?

We didn't find a dedicated Reddit or Telegram app in the Grok Bot plugin catalog on Oct 28, 2026. The catalog does list Composio, a third-party plugin that connects Reddit, Telegram, and many other apps through one connection. It also lists Postiz, a social scheduling tool that includes Reddit and Telegram among the platforms it posts to.

How do I add Composio to Grok Bot?

Open Connect apps in the sidebar, search for Composio, add it, choose Authenticate, and approve Composio's consent screen. Or ask your Bot, "Add the Composio app."

Can Grok Bot read my personal Telegram messages?

Not through Composio's Telegram toolkit. It uses Telegram's Bot API, so it only works in chats where your Telegram bot is a member.

Can Grok Bot post on Reddit for me?

Yes, once Reddit is connected through Composio it can create posts and comments as you. We recommend having it draft replies for your review instead, since posts go out under your name and subreddits have self-promotion rules.

How do I add a custom MCP server to Grok Bot?

Ask your Bot in chat, for example "Add this MCP server: https://example.com/mcp." It confirms and installs it, and tools are ready from your next message. The server must be publicly reachable over HTTPS; localhost on your laptop won't work.

Is a connected app available to all my Bots?

Yes. The docs say apps are account-wide, so every Bot you run can use a connected app.

Does my Bot see my Reddit or Composio password?

Per the docs, app OAuth tokens are held on Cursor's connector backend and the Bot calls tools without receiving them.

Is this an official Grok Bot, xAI, Cursor, or Composio guide?

No. Grok Use Cases is an independent, unofficial resource by Tristan Workman. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by xAI, Grok, Cursor, or Composio.
