Negotiate a bill with a Grok Bot phone call: Call Brief, script, and honesty rules (unofficial guide)
Yes, if Calls is on for your account: your Bot can dial a provider you already deal with, ask for a retention or re-quote, and bring notes — while disclosing it is a virtual assistant (Terms §2.7). Keep money and contract changes behind your Allow. Research the bill first, then fill a six-line Call Brief before you dial.
If Calls is on for your account, your Bot can dial a provider you already deal with, ask for a retention or re-quote offer, and bring you notes — while disclosing it is a virtual assistant. This guide pairs the Call Brief with a bill-negotiation script, hard stops for money and contracts, and the honesty rules that keep you inside Grok Bot Terms §2.7. The short answer
Research the bill first (current price, promo end, competitor listed prices). Then, only if Calls is available on your account, fill a six-line Call Brief and dial one provider you already pay.
The Bot must open as a virtual assistant calling on your behalf. No impersonation, no disabled disclosure, no marketing or mass dials. You are the caller of record under Terms §2.7.
Hard stops: no plan change, retention offer acceptance, cancellation fee, payment, or contract without your Allow for that step. Verify the new price on the next bill.

Before you dial
Confirm Calls is available. As of Nov 4, 2026 the official changelog is still v0.78.1 (Oct 27) with no Calls release note; policy text is in Terms §2.7. If your Bot says Calls isn't on, stop.
Pull the facts: last bill total, promo or contract end date, the plan you want, and one true competing listed price if you have it. Don't invent leverage.
One call, one goal. Insurance re-quote and ISP retention are two briefs, not one.
Stay reachable for PINs, account verification, and mid-call decisions.
Fill the Call Brief
1. Who: [provider] · [number you provide] · [account number].
2. Consent: existing customer / I already pay them. Empty consent line = no dial.
3. Goal: ask for a retention or re-quote to [target monthly price / plan]. Success: quote the new price, term, fees, and reference number. Failure: hang up if they require a new contract you refuse, or demand personal data beyond the account.
4. Disclose: open as a virtual assistant on your behalf. Do not alter that disclosure.
5. Hard stops: no accepting a price, plan change, add-on, payment, or cancellation without your Allow.
6. After: dated summary with who answered, word-for-word offers, reference numbers, and what still needs you.
Bill-negotiation script (honest)
Open: "Hi, this is a virtual assistant calling on behalf of [your name] about account [number]."
Context: "We're reviewing the current [internet / phone / insurance] bill of about $[amount] and looking for a retention or re-quote on [plan / speed / coverage]."
Ask: "What retention or current customer offers are available for that plan without adding a mobile line or other add-ons we didn't ask for?"
Collect: monthly price, term length, early-termination fees, promo end date, and a reference or ticket number. Read them back.
Close: "I'll bring this offer back to [you] before anything is confirmed." Then hang up unless you already Allowed a specific accept.
If they refuse AI callers, hang up, note it, and decide whether you will call yourself.
Safety and honesty (non-negotiable)
No impersonation. The Terms require Calls to identify as a virtual assistant; you may not alter or disable that disclosure.
No deceptive stories ("I'm about to cancel unless…") that aren't true. Keep the ask factual.
No marketing, mass dialing, or cold calling. Only providers (or people) who agreed to hear from you.
Money and contracts stay behind Allow. A chat summary is not a contract — verify on the next bill or portal.
Calls may be recorded. Plan for the other party hearing the disclosure.
After the call
Review the transcript checklist from the Call Brief skill.
If you Accept an offer, approve that step explicitly, then have the Bot log the change and check the next bill.
Pair this with the Bill Cutter / pay-for-itself guide for research-first savings across several bills.
Optional: the $19 Calls Pack at /calls-pack has a ready-made bill-negotiation skill plus insurance, cancellation, refund, and booking skills. This guide and the Call Brief stay free.

I want one phone call to negotiate a bill. First confirm Calls is available. Fill this brief and show an approval card before dialing. 1) Who: [provider], [number I provide], account [number]. 2) Consent: existing customer. 3) Goal: ask for a retention or re-quote toward $[target]/[plan]. Success: quote monthly price, term, fees, reference number. Failure: hang up if they require a contract or add-on I refuse, or demand extra personal data. 4) Disclose at the start that you are a virtual assistant calling on my behalf; do not alter that. 5) Hard stops: do not accept prices, plan changes, add-ons, payments, cancellations, or contracts without my explicit Allow for that step. 6) After: return date/time, who answered, disclosure given, goal met, word-for-word offers, reference numbers, decisions still needed. Never use this for marketing or mass calling. Never impersonate a human.
Tips
- Internet and phone promos expire often — start there.
- Insurance: compare coverage line by line before chasing a lower premium.
- Split "cancel by phone" and "negotiate retention" into two briefs if both are on the table.
- Peter Yang's Comcast story and similar posts are user reports, not guarantees of your savings.
