When does Grok Bot usage reset? How the weekly meter works (unofficial FAQ)

Weekly. On The X Subscription, eligible first-party usage sits in one pool shared across Grok and Cursor (docs.x.ai/x-subscription/usage-limits). Unused usage does not roll over. Your next reset date is on the Usage screen at grok.com/dashboard — not a single global weekday we invent. Plans and prices: x.ai/pricing.

The short answer

Per xAI's usage-limits docs: each paid seat gets a weekly pool for eligible first-party usage across supported Grok and Cursor surfaces. The live Usage view shows how much you've used and the next reset date.

It refreshes weekly. Unused usage does not roll over. Official pages do not publish a single global clock like "every Monday at midnight UTC" for every account — check your own next reset on Usage at grok.com/dashboard, or Settings → Usage in the Grok app.

When the pool is empty, paid first-party features pause until reset unless you use prepaid top-up credit or upgrade. Grok's free-tier Chat and Voice limits are separate and still work (xAI FAQ / pricing guide pattern).

How often does usage reset?

Weekly. The docs describe a weekly pool that refreshes, not a daily or monthly Bot-only meter.

Open Usage and write down the next reset date shown for your seat. That date is the answer for your account.

Do not assume your neighbor's reset day matches yours. Plan around the date on your screen.

What draws from the same pool?

On The X Subscription, the pool is shared across eligible Grok surfaces (Chat, Imagine, Voice, and Bot) and Cursor first-party usage. It is not split into separate product quotas.

Different work costs different amounts. Long agent jobs and video generation sit at the heavy end; a short chat message uses less (xAI FAQ).

Third-party models in Cursor are Additional Usage paid from prepaid credit, not from the included weekly pool.

What happens when you hit the limit?

Wait for the weekly reset, buy top-ups (from $5 on the web; credit expires one year after purchase and does not reset with the weekly pool), or upgrade if you overrun most weeks.

Auto Top-up and spending caps live under additional usage / billing controls. Set a monthly cap before you turn Auto Top-up on.

Top-up credit is billed at standard rates. xAI's guidance is that upgrading is usually better value if you go over most weeks.

How to make the week last

Slow hourly routines to daily or twice-daily. Cursor's routines help warns that busy Slack triggers and short intervals can burn a week in a day.

Prefer connectors over browser automation when a connector exists.

Run the free Usage Saver skill: inventory routines, flag overlap, propose at most three calmer changes, and change nothing until you Allow.

For plan math (Premium / Super / Ultra, Heavy vs Ultra), use the pricing guide and the Heavy vs Ultra page.

What we are not claiming

We are not inventing a fixed weekday or UTC hour for every account. Official docs point you to the Usage view for the next reset date.

We are not confirming third-party rumors that the pool was secretly cut on a specific date. News and social posts about Nov 1 throttling exist; measure your own per-product breakdown week to week.

We are not publishing a Heavy-to-Ultra conversion calculator. xAI does not publish one.

What you need

Steps

  1. Open Usage and note percent used, the per-product breakdown, and the next reset date.
  2. List routines that run more than once a day or watch busy channels.
  3. Run Usage Saver or the prompt below; Allow only numbered calmer changes.
  4. If you still hit zero most weeks after a calm schedule, compare top-ups with the next plan on x.ai/pricing.

Free SKILL.md: inventory routines, check Usage, propose up to three calmer changes, wait for Allow. Never pauses or edits on its own. Also at /free.

Prompt to copy

Open Usage (or ask me for a screenshot). Tell me the percent used, next reset date, and heaviest product rows. Then list my routines with schedules and what each run reads. Propose at most three calmer changes with trade-offs. Do not pause or edit anything until I say Allow for that change.
