Which Grok plan do you need? Grok vs Grok Bot, and which tiers include it
Grok is the chat, voice, and Imagine assistant. Grok Bot is the always-on agent product. Under The X Subscription, one plan covers both. Grok Bot needs Premium ($30/mo) or higher. Plus doesn't include it.
What you need
- Know what you want: chat, images, and video (Grok), AI teammates that do work on their own computer (Grok Bot), coding (Cursor), or all of them
Steps
- Grok vs Grok Bot: Grok handles chat, voice, and image/video generation. Grok Bot gives you persistent Bots with their own cloud computer, connectors, skills, and routines. They're separate products, but The X Subscription covers both on one bill.
- The X Subscription tiers (per xAI, Oct 2026): Free $0 (limited), Plus $8/mo (base usage), Premium $30/mo (4x Plus usage; includes the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+), Super $100/mo (15x Plus), Ultra $200/mo (50x Plus).
- Grok Bot is included on Premium, Super, and Ultra. Plus does not include Grok Bot.
- All of it draws from one weekly usage pool shared across Grok, Grok Bot, and Cursor. Higher tiers mean a bigger pool, not separate Bot quotas.
- Already on SuperGrok, SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor, or X Premium? Nothing changes unless you switch. If you do switch ('unify'), old subscriptions on the combined accounts are cancelled with a prorated refund, Grok Bot moves to the new weekly pool, and unification can't be undone.
- Before switching, check your current Grok Bot usage on your Cursor dashboard and compare it with the target tier at x.ai/pricing.

Here's how I use Grok each week: [chat / images / video / Bots running routines / coding]. Based on xAI's current pricing page, which X Subscription tier fits, and what would I give up or gain compared with my current plan? Link the pricing page and don't guess numbers it doesn't publish.
Tips
- Do you need two subscriptions? Not on The X Subscription. One plan covers Grok, Grok Bot, and Cursor (plus X benefits when you add a personal X account).
- Moving from SuperGrok Heavy to Ultra: xAI doesn't publish an exact usage conversion. It describes usage as multiples of the Plus plan and says each new tier gives more usage-per-dollar than the plan it replaces. Compare your real usage before committing, since unification is permanent.
- App Store and Google Play subscriptions may need cancelling separately. xAI's docs explain which ones it can cancel for you.
- Third-party models in Cursor (Claude, GPT) cost extra at API list price on Premium and above.
