How to triage your inbox with Grok Bot
Have the agent read unread email, sort it into reply / read / ignore, and draft replies for you to approve.
What you need
- A connected email account (for example Gmail)
- 10 minutes to agree on your sorting rules
Steps
- Connect your email account in Grok Bot so it can search and read threads.
- Tell it your categories: needs a reply from me today, read later, newsletters, and noise.
- Ask it to pull unread threads from the last 24 hours and sort each into one bucket with a one-line reason.
- For the 'reply today' bucket, ask for drafts in your voice. Review each draft before anything is sent.
- Once the output looks right a few days in a row, save the instructions as a skill so you can run it with one line.
Prompt to copy
Search my inbox for unread email from the last 24 hours. Sort every thread into: Reply today, Read later, Newsletters, Ignore. Give a one-line reason for each. Then draft replies for the Reply today group in a short, direct tone. Do not send anything; show me the drafts first.
Tips
- Keep sending as a manual approval step.
- Give it 2–3 real example replies so drafts sound like you.
- Ask it to flag likely scam or phishing email with the specific red flags, and never click links in those threads.
- Scope each run to 'unread since last run'. Reading a whole mailbox uses a lot of your weekly allowance.
FAQ
Can Grok Bot detect scam emails?
It can review email and flag likely phishing with reasons. Elon Musk highlighted this on X in October 2026, but you should verify any flagged message yourself.
How do I keep email triage from using up my allowance?
Limit each run to unread mail since the previous run and schedule one or two runs a day instead of constant checking.
